James Robert Martin, of Bay City, passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, July 08, 2013, age 77. Jim worked hard and played hard right up to the end. He was born June 3, 1936 in Bay City, Michigan. He is survived by his wife, Carol M (Treymann) Martin. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on August 3rd. Jim is also survived by his four daughters and their families; Michelle Martin-Yoder (Kurt) of Villa Rica, Georgia , Jacqueline Martin-Walli (Timothy) of Bay City, Nicole Eaton of Whitefish, Montana, and Domonique Struble (Matt) of San Diego, California. His beloved grandchildren Gabriella and Kalvin Eaton, Sydney and Shea Walli, Keaton and Kalin Struble. His sisters, Marilyn Smith (David Tervalon) and Gail Krohn and sisters in law and their spouses Theresa Germain (Robert), Barbara Boughton (Barry), and Patricia Salvatiera (Andy). Jim also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and close friends. He was predeceased by his parents Stan and Wilhelmina Martin, and his sisters Delores Dowling and Loretta Anderson and his God-Daughter/niece Kathy Germain, and two nephews Ted Boughton and Brian Smith. Jim (Papa, daddy, uncle) had a passion for life. His sense of humor and constant smile will be missed by everyone. He loved life and loved each day with his family and friends. Jim’s grandchildren will pass on to their children the old funny songs he loved to teach them. His passions also included golf and his Thursday night “men only” poker game. Jim graduated from Handy High School in the Class of 1955. He served our country in the US Navy and was a graduate of Ferris State University. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Parish in Bay City, the Knights of Columbus Council #414, the Elk’s Lodge #88 and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #169. Jim was employed as a Project Manager for Roese Contracting until the end. Jim Martin made friends all across the country in his travels and we know they will miss his visits.
