James Raymond Malcom, 82, of Elkhart, passed Sunday, July 2, 2017, at his home.

James was born Dec. 17, 1934, in Salem, Kentucky, to the late G. Raymond and Imogene (Guess) Malcom.

James enjoyed hunting and fishing, but baseball was his passion.

He helped create Osolo Little League where he coached and volunteered many hours just so children would have a nice place to play.

The love of the game and his values have been passed on to his children. Teaching life lessons through a game is a trait they will carry on.

He was most proud of his son’s team winning a ballgame and his daughter bringing home baton twirling trophies.

He also left his mark as a union carpenter, building many commercial buildings around the area, such as Miles Laboratories, Skyline, ESI Meats and Mary Feeser Elementary School. Also he owed Plastercraft Place during the 70s which produced ceramics, concrete statues and home décor.

James was a very hard-working father which allowed his children to experience travel and the love of their hobbies.

James is survived by daughter Connie (James) Sanders; son Jimmy (Christine) Malcom; grandchildren Lindsey (Mike) Neal, Joshua (Alissa) Malcom, Stephanie (Adam) Wambaugh, Jessica (Chris) Pulaski and Cory Malcom; great-grandchildren Maddux Pulaski and a new great-grandchild to be brought into this world in September, Franklin James; brothers George (Roseann) Malcom, Roy (Joyce) Malcom, Roger Malcom, Kenneth (Jean) Malcom, Garry Malcom, Rick (Carolyn) Malcom and sister Janice (Nate) Books.
