James “Jim” Russell Lowell, 75, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at his home in Newnan, GA. He was born July 28, 1935 in Ft. Plain, NY to the late Maynard Frederick & Susie O’Day Lowell. He was an engineering graduate of Lowell Technological Institute of Lowell, Ma. In the late 50’s he started his family and a career in the financial industry and worked his up to the Vice President of Installment Loans of the First Agricultural National Bank in Pittsfield, MA. He was active in the Lions club, Masons, Rotary and a barbershop chorus. Then he owned and operated a local private business. Later in his career he worked for the federal SBA Disaster Relief program and the FDIC. He was a member of the Cornerstone United Methodist Church and the Seeker Sunday School Class. Jim was an avid golfer from the age of 5 who enjoyed the game and the spirit of competition with friends on the course. During a 10 year battle with cancer he continued to enjoy his family, golf, traveling and southern gospel music. After a second diagnosis of cancer, he continued to fight the good fight for two years and enjoyed life to its fullest. He will be remembered for the love he gave his family and for his passion of life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Brian John Lowell; and brothers, John Edward Lowell, Maynard “Fritz” Frederick Lowell. Survivors include wife, Beverly F. Lowell of Newnan, GA; sons, James R. Lowell, Jr. & his wife Ruthanne of Colts Neck, NJ, Dennis Michael Lowell & his wife Margie of Amherst, NH, David Cady Lowell of Fort Mill, SC; daughter, Amy Elizabeth Lowell Warner & her husband Rob of Fort Mill, SC; grandchildren, James R. Lowell, III, Evan W. Lowell, Samuel L. Lowell, Jacob M. Lowell, Sarah E. Lowell; parents-in-law, Clifford & Corene Holder of Smiths Grove, KY; sisters-in-law, Marli Lowell of Melbourne, FL, Dru Lowell of Greensboro, NC; brothers-in-law, Terry Tomlinson & his wife Alice of Cincinnati, OH, Bob Reeves & his wife Agatha of Bowling Green, KY; cousin, Lowell Bauder of New Smyrna Beach, FL; several nieces & nephews, great-nieces & nephews; and other members of extended family and friends.
