James is survived by his wife, Dorothy Pearl DeBord; children, Joshua DeBord and wife, Dawn; Larzetta P. DeBord and Fred J. Knall, Sr.; Tracella Z. Borgia; and Ottie M. Priebe and husband, Emery. He also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
