James P. Pnacek, Sr., age 74 of Midland, passed away on Thursday September 27, 2018 at the Toni & Trish House in Auburn. The son of the late Roman and Josephine (Mestansik) Pnacek was born in Midland on February 17, 1944 where he was raised and educated.
Jim served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He had been employed as a carpenter with the Carpenters Union Local 706 until retiring in 2000 after 33 years of service. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, going camping, bowling, watching the Tigers, doing carpentry work, going to the casino and on cruises, of which he was a member of the Diamond Club with Carnival Cruises. In his earlier years, Jim enjoyed playing Fast pitch Softball and farming.
Surviving is his wife of 51 years the former Dora J. Keidel of whom he married on June 10, 1967 in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church; sons, James (Sylvia) Pnacek, Jr, of Mason, Michigan, Dean Pnacek of Midland; grandchildren, Colton Pnacek, Jacob Clark, Savannah Clark; siblings, Helen Fitak, Andrew Pnacek, Irene Stec, Genevieve (Robert) Wishowski, Dan (Clarice) Pnacek, Mary Netterfield; many nieces and nephews and his little pumpkin Candy. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by siblings, Sue Beck, Steve Pnacek, Emil Pnacek, Leo Pnacek, and Rose Fitak.
