James Nelson Shaw, 82, entered into eternal peace on October 5, 2019 surrounded by his family at Mount St. Vincent Care Center. James was a lifelong resident of Holyoke, MA who was born on June 8, 1937 to the late George W. and Helen W. (Nelson) Shaw. Upon graduating Holyoke Trade School, he joined the Air National Guard. After serving two years with the Guard he joined the Navy and served on the USS Leyte in which was a proud Veteran. He was employed by the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer, retiring in 1988. Upon retiring he was a Military Police Officer at Westover Air Force Base and a Supervisor at St. Luke’s Nursing Home in Springfield.
