James Mortenson, age 82, of Terril, Iowa died on Thursday, August 21, 2014. James Duane Mortenson, the son of Engold and Sigrid (Simonsen) Mortenson, was born on June 25, 1932 in Webb, Iowa.
His childhood years were spent between the Webb and Ayrshire area where he graduated from Ayrshire High School. After High School James served in the Army during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge he returned to the Terril area where his parents farmed. James married Karen Mohr on May 19, 1957 were the couple continued to make their home. James farmed until retiring in 2000.
James passed away at his home Thursday August 21, 2014 at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harris and Lawrence Mortenson; three sisters, Ellen Basinger, Shirley Struve and Joanne Lewis.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Karen; a daughter, Ginny Clabaugh of Estherville; five sons, Joey Mortenson of Lakefield, MN, Byron Mortenson and his wife Chris of Swea City, Bruce Mortenson and his wife Konnie of Terril, Brent Mortenson and his wife Ronda of Terril and Brad Mortenson of Terril; eighteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Janet) Mortenson of Emmetsburg and Keith (Fran) Mortenson of Spencer; and many other relatives and friends.
