On Friday, January 5, 2018, James M. Yoerkie, 68, was called to eternal life at the John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. Born in Meriden on February 12, 1949, he was the son of the late Charles & Jeanette Yoerkie. He was raised in Newington and lived most recently in New Britain. He had been in the employ of Collective Goods, formerly known as Books Are Fun, for over 20 years as a book salesman. Jim was also an active parishioner at St. Joseph’s Church. Left to honor and cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 22 years, Kathleen (Cheverier) Yoerkie, two daughters Jennifer and Kristen, step sons Michael Cheverier and his son Shawn of Daytona, FL and Jason Cheverier and his partner Kristie Kovarcik and daughter Sydney of Higganum, a brother Dr. Charles Yoerkie and his wife Maryanne of West Palm Beach, FL, and a sister Margaret Yoerkie of Tequesta, FL. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother David Yoerkie.
