James M. Sennett, 76, of 2315 West Southern Avenue, South Williamsport, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the Rose View Center following a brief illness.

Jim and his wife, the former Diane W. White, observed their 26th wedding anniversary on June 23, 2010.

Jim was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church and an Army veteran. He was a lifelong resident of Williamsport and a graduate of the Williamsport High School.

Jim retired in 1999 from the U. S.

Jim loved baseball and was a member of the Lycoming Dairy Little League Team, and was the pitcher in the first Little League World Series in 1947. In his later years he played on the Grotto team for the Over Forty Fast Pitch Softball League. He was a dedicated Penn State and New Your Yankee’s fan.

Jim was a member of Dietrick Lamade Lodge 755, F & AM, a member of the Keystone League and was very active in the Zafar Grotto and Rafaz Club and spent many memorable times at the club. He and his wife raised longhaired miniature dachshunds and enjoyed traveling to shows and field trails.

Born January 11, 1935 in Williamsport, he was the son of George and Maud Trumball Sennett.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Shannon (Ben) Matthews of McDonough, GA; son, Jeremy J. (Stacy) of Williamsport; brother, Harry (Dorothy) of Williamsport; sisters, Ann (Dick) Emerick of Williamsport and Mary Alice (George) Peacock of Lewisberry; grandchildren, Hannah Nanette Matthews, Kaelyn Rose Sennett and Brayden James Sennett.

Jim was predeceased by a brother, George Sennett, Jr and his twin, Edward Sennett; sisters, Faye Knauber, Helen English and several nieces and nephews.
