James M. Plencner, 72, of South Bend, passed away on April 7, 2014, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. He was born on August 4, 1941, in South Bend, to the late Casimer and Eleanor (Lemanski) Plencner. On May 7, 1966 he married Helen Shibovitch, who survives. Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Lisa Plencner (Michael Malesa) and his son, Doug Plencner, both of South Bend. James was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel. Mr. Plencner was a carpenter/superintendent for Verkler Construction for 30 years, before retiring in 2002. Before that he worked for Sears for over 10 years. He was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran and member of the South Bend Carpenters Local 413. He belonged to the American Rimfire Association and loved to spend his free time sharpshooting paper targets and eggs, working in his basement workshop, and hanging out with his best friend, Bubba. Jim is already missed by his family and furry friends, Charlie and Stella.
