James M. Hadden, 76, of Bethlehem, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Holy Family Manor in Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Shirley D. (Zimmerman) Hadden, who passed away in 2001. Born in Bethlehem, he was the only child of the late George W. Jr. and Emma (Trine) Hadden. Jim was a graduate of Liberty High School, and at the age of 19, was one of the last people in Bethlehem to be stricken with polio. While in the hospital in Johnstown, he fell in love with his future wife, Shirley and they were married in 1964. He returned to Bethlehem to join his father in the City Engineering Department of the City of Bethlehem, where he worked for 40 years. He was Past President of the Lehigh Valley CB Club, and a former volunteer with Cub Scouts and N.E.L.L., when his son was young. He was an avid Eagles and Penn State Football Fan. Jim’s beloved pet parrot “Tiki” died in September. Survivors: is a son, Michael J. Hadden and his fiance’ Tammy Reiss of Bethlehem, 2 grandchildren, Joseph and Juanita Feith; brother-in-laws, Dennis W. Zimmerman of Allentown and Lester G. Zimmerman of Hooversville.
