James Lewis, 68, died Sunday morning, August 30, 2009 at his beloved home in Heston. Jim was born August 12, 1941 to Donald and Marjorie (Schrader) Lewis in Three Oaks, Michigan. He grew up and lived around or in Heston his whole life. On July 21, 1958 he married June Hall. Jim loved to ride his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, his house, Heston, and hound dogs.

He also loved his tri axle dump truck. Although he had a tough exterior, Jim was often called on to play Santa Claus, and he gladly obliged. He was a journeyman brick layer since 1966 and master mason, working alongside his brother at Lewis Masonry. He also owned Lewis Septic in Heston. Jim invented and obtained a legal patten for a masonry tool. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. He was also a member of the Hesston Steam Museum, the Rolling Prairie Masonic Lodge, and the Moose Lodge in LaPorte.

Survivors include his children, Ruth (Dan) Lee, of Michigan City; Timothy of LaPorte; Vicki of Laporte; Lori (Dan) Miller of Laporte and James R. (Stacie) Lewis II of LaPorte; grandchildren, Stephen, Monica, Gregory, Derek, Cari, Billy, Bridget, Tabitha, Kristina, James III and Lance; great grandchildren, Alexis, Mallory, Paige, Tori, Austin, Blake and Kylee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife June in 2005, and brother, Richard in 2006.Cremation has taken place.
