James “Leroy” Lyons, 73, of 1554 Illinois St. La Salle, died at home surrounded by his family on December 8, 2015.
Mr. Lyons was born in Peoria on February 18, 1942 to Roy and Ruth (Abell) Lyons. He served in the US Army in 1964 and 1965 during the Vietnam War. He married Diana Richards on October 14, 1967 in St.
Jim was a member of the Knights of Columbus in La Salle. He was a 1960 graduate of St. Bede Academy, where he was very active in planning his class reunions. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, woodworking, fishing, and walking his dog, Dyemond. He enjoyed the company while bartending at Bruno’s in Cherry.
He is survived by his wife Diana of La Salle; one daughter Becky (Rick) Bodnum of Darien; two grandchildren Allison and James Bruno Bodnum; two sisters Ruth Ann (Bill) Baracani of Peru and Mary (Dale) Schorn of Oglesby.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
