James Leon Sanders, 67, of Gisela, died unexpectedly on June 27, 2011 at Mayo Clinic Hospital.
Jimmy was born March 16, 1944 in Duncan, Arizona to Walter B and Erma Lavern Sanders. His family moved a lot when he was young. He lived most of his life in Gila County.
He served during the Vietnam War. He worked construction as a heavy equipment operator for most of his life. He loved his family and always had a smile on his face. He was a hard worker and always willing to lend a helping hand. He had a special devotion to his mom and dad. As a young man he loved to rope. He enjoyed hunting and camping with his friends and family. He always spent his share of time fishing usually at Roosevelt Lake. His quiet spoken ways will be missed dearly.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Mary Sanders; son, Homer Sanders of Rye; daughter, Jimi Lei (Sanders) Nitso (Jed) of Payson; step-sons, Brian Marshall (Jessica) of Gisela and Sherman Marshall (Rebecca) of Phoenix; brothers, Johnny Sanders of Las Vegas, Nevada and Walter Sanders of Cleveland, South Carolina; sisters, Dixie Jones of Payson, and Erma Lewis of Apache Junction; grandchildren, Andy, Kyl, Brodei, Aldan, Justen (Tawni), Amber, Niki, Logan, Milika and Austin; great-grandchildren, Karlynn and Colben.
He was preceded in death by his baby brother, Benjamin Franklin Sanders.
