James L. McBride, age 77, passed away on August 15, 2016. He was born in Union, SC to Lemuel and Nannie McBride on August 2, 1939.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Gloria of 50 years; his son, Tim McBride and his partner, Ann Isett and her daughter, Kiahna Pierce, of Lubbock, TX; sister, Shirley Farr (Donald) of Union, SC; brothers-in-law, Frank Sanchez (Barbara), Richard Sanchez (Roberta) and Edward Litchfield; sisters-in-law, Nora Putnam, Alice Mora, Geneva Fieldson (Jim); and Mary Gallegos (Eddie), all of Albuquerque; his grandchildren, Amelia, Austin and Madison; six-great-grandchildren from North Carolina; many nieces and nephews; and Mazel Owens (Perk) of Pacolet, SC. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Donald McBride; sister, Carol Sanders, and sister-in-law, Dorothy Litchfield.
Jim served his country in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1966. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 49 where he was club manager for over 20 years. He was also a member of Voiture 40+8 Local 1534. Jim loved gardening, working on his beautiful yard, and woodworking projects that he enjoyed doing. His favorite pastimes were watching Nascar and playing video poker at a local casino.
Jim fought a tough and valiant battle with cancer, strokes and heart disease for eight years. He will be dearly missed by his family but won’t be forgotten.
The family would like to thank the UNM Hospital, UNM Cancer Center, and Presbyterian Cardiac Care Unit doctors and staff.
