Died on November 28, 2015 at the age of 81. He was born in Kalamazoo on June 30, 1934. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1953 and from Western Michigan University with a BBA degree in 1957. He worked as a banker and stock broker. He retired from Eaton Corporation in 1984 at the age of 50 after twenty five years in computer work. He enjoyed collecting and wood working in his workshop.
He came from a musical family and always enjoyed music. James was preceded in death by his parents, Maureen Overley and Christopher Overley; and his brother, Dr. Jack Overley. He was married to Carol (Smith) Overley in 1962; she survives him. He is also survived by one sister-in-law, Jill Overley of Eugene, OR; one cousin, John (Halene) Overley of Kalamazoo; two brothers-in-law, James (Darlene) Smith of Muskegon and John (Sharon) Smith of Caledonia. Cremation has taken place.
