James Karl “Buddy” Dancy, 84, Logansport, passed away at 10:25 a.m., on Friday, January 12, 2018, in WoodBridge Health Campus.

On May 16, 1933 in Paris, Tenn., he was born to James Hughes Dancy and Beulah Beatrice “Bibe” Blackwood Dancy.

He was married on September 21, 1961 in Logansport to Roselee Kathryn Haugh, who preceded him in death in July 1, 1992.

Mr. Dancy was a ten-year, non-combat United States Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War Era.

Mr. Dancy was also a licensed realtor in the state of Indiana. He spent many years as a board member and production helper for both the Civic Players of Logansport and the Logansport Junior Civic Theater.

After retirement, he enjoyed learning the computer and maintaining websites.

Surviving are a daughter, Janice Kimberly Dancy and her husband Galen Osier of Seattle, WA; son and daughter-in-law Robert Joe and Nikki Storckman of Redding, CA; grandchildren, Matt, Bobby, Geoffrey, and Katie Storckman; four special cousins, Rogina Blackwood Baker, Martha Jane Hawks Bledsoe and husband “T” Bledsoe, and Betty Duck Byrd; and several special nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, George Edward Baucum, and sisters, Peggy Jean Dancy Paschall and Mary Kay Dancy Smith.

The Dancy clan was from Dancyville, Tenn., and the little community was named after Jim’s great-great-grandfather. Jim was also proud of the fact that the first Dancy in this country arrived from England in 1621 as an indentured traveler.
