Jim was born in Rensselaer, Indiana, on July 28, 1943, one of seven children of Fred and Mary (Scheurich) Moore. Jim lived in Rensselaer and farmed in Jasper County his entire life. Jim graduated from Rensselaer High School in 1961, and married his high school sweetheart, Anita Jane “Tweet” Brooks. Their marriage was on October 28, 1962, and Jim was a loving and devoted husband for nearly 55 years. Jim and Tweet had three daughters together, Melissa Anne (Dr. John Ahler) of Rensselaer, Melinda Jane (Mr. Neal Rothermel) of Indianapolis and Jody Lynn (Mr. Mark Fleming) of Indianapolis. Jim had eleven wonderful grandchildren of which he remained immensely proud: Jacob (Carolyn) Ahler, Benjamen (Reagan) Ahler, Noah, Samuel, Isaac, Abigail, and Adam Ahler, Sawyer, Hudson, and Celia Rothermel, and Evan Moore, and one great-granddaughter, Madison Margaret Ahler.
Jim is also survived by his siblings, Thomas (Linda) Moore, Carol (Ross) Fishburn, Robert (Connie) Moore, Mary Beth (Mike) Kosta and Kathy (Bruce) Wilmington, and a sister-in-law, Myra Moore all of Rensselaer and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Fred Moore, Jr. Jim was part-owner of Moore Farms and was committed to its preservation as an Indiana Historical Landmark Homestead Farm for more than 150 years. For more than 34 years Jim served in the area as a Pioneer Seed representative, and was a member of the Indiana Beef Cattlemen’s Association, serving as president for one year. Jim also served on the Hanging Grove Township Board of Trustees. Devoted to farming and agriculture, Jim was a life-long supporter of 4-H and FFA and served on the Jasper County Fair Board for one term. He was devoted to the Rensselaer community as well, serving on the Jasper County Hospital Board for eight years and was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church for the past 34 years. Aside from farming, Jim’s passions were Tweet, Ford Mustang convertibles, traveling, golfing, family genealogy and spending time with his grandchildren.
