James “Jimbo” Steffich, Jr., 61, of Clarksburg, went to be with the Lord on June 17, 2010, while at home with his family. He was born September 22, 1948 in Clarksburg to James and Thelma Steffich, Sr. Jimbo married his wife, Nancy (Post) on February 8, 1969. He is survived by his wife and their three children, James Steffich, III and his wife Denise, Mark Steffich and his wife Christine, and Kristi Lafferty and her husband Chris; and three grandchildren, Noah Lafferty, Shawn Johnson, and Andrew Tenda. He was preceded in death by one brother, Benjamin Steffich; and one grandchild, Antonio Steffich. Jimbo retired from AFG Industries in 1995 due to illness. He battled and beat an aggressive form of gastric cancer, but met with many health challenges along the way as a result of his life-saving radiation therapy. He was very thankful for his extra time on earth. He was able to see his children married and the birth of his grandson, Noah. Jimbo enjoyed deer hunting in the fall with his sons, Mark and Jimmy. Most recently his grandson, Andrew, joined them for his first hunting experience last fall. He also loved gardening and sports. He loved to watch people sweat after he mixed up a batch of hot peppers from his garden. He was a big Yankees fan, and spent many days in the recliner watching his team. He attended his grandson Noah’s sporting events as often as possible. Most recently, he bragged to Noah that he was not much of a hitter, but he could throw a heck of a curve ball in his day. And we can’t forget the money he “invested” in the Red Caboose playing cards and drinking Miller Lite with his buddies. Jimbo also had many close friends, both nearby and far away, many of whom became like part of the family. He had a great appreciation for both his friends and family. His final days were spent at home with his family under hospice care. The family would like to thank those who visited and helped out during this difficult time as well as the UHC Hospice staff and Dr. Madden. Jimbo was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
