James “Jim” W. McCreary, 75, of Elkhart, passed away at his home with his family by his side on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, at 8:00 am.
He was born April 18, 1944, in Manchester, KY to the late Lawrence and Annie (Hampton) McCreary. Jim married the love of his life, Betty Jean (Payne) McCreary on Memorial Day, May 25, 1963.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Kathy and brother, Vernon.
Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Betty; sons, Jamie (Tracie) McCreary of Cassopolis, MI, and James Lawrence McCreary of Elkhart, IN; grandsons, Jason Lee and Austin James McCreary; brothers and sisters, Denver (Patricia), Daniel (Christine), Charles (Donna), Denny (Faye), Leroy (Debbie), Robert (Joyce) and Carolyn (Randall) and many nieces and nephews.
Jim retired as a machinist at Jessen Manufacturing and I.P.C. in Elkhart. He was a member of the Moose Lodge since 1992. Jim was an avid deer hunter. He loved riding his Goldwing motorcycle and traveled frequently with his wife. Most of all, Jim was a loving husband and father and he will be greatly missed.
