James “Jim” Murphy Sr., 76, of Greenwood, died Tuesday, March 29, 2016, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born January 25, 1940, in Indianapolis, Indiana to John and Hazel (Carpenter) Murphy.
He worked as a heat treater for Williamson Steel Treating Company, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Jim was an Army veteran. He enjoyed playing his guitar, especially for his church; he also liked to bowl. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and a faithful member of Church of the Bible, of Franklin. He was known for his kindness and his willingness to do anything for his family and others.
He is survived by his wife, Christa (Daiger) Murphy; three children, two daughters, Darlene (Richard) Sipes of Whiteland, and Karen (Dusty) Willever of Greenwood, one son, James Murphy Jr. of Clearfield, Utah, one sister, Diane (Larry) Smith of Indianapolis, one brother, John C. Murphy of Indianapolis,seven grandchildren; Calvin Murphy, Derrick Willever, Christina Willever, Kyle Murphy, Lisa Sipes, Camron Murphy, Hunter Murphy, and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Hazel Murphy and three sisters, Doris Bean, Carol Crow, and Rosie Potts.
