James M. Jim Lewis, age 81 of Fairmount, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Jim was born in Frankfort to the late Charles Dale and Ruth (McMillen) Lewis on January 20, 1933. He was a 1952 graduate of Frankfort High School. Shortly after graduating, Jim married the love of his life Mary Smith on July 7, 1952 in Delphi. He was an electrician and graduated from Ivy Tech with all As and later taught classes.

Jim worked at General Motors in Marion where he retired from in 1996 after thirty-five years of service. He attended Wesleyan Bible Holiness Church, where he was known as an exceptional Sunday school teacher for thirty years; which he considered a calling. In addition to church, the other focus of Jims life was his family. They all have fond memories of the camping, playing games and annual trips to Florida.

In addition to his wife, Mary, who survives in Fairmount, Jim is survived by six children, Diana (Daryl) Hamons, of Springfield, OH, Brian (Rhonda) Lewis, of Alexandria, Teresa (Terry) Avery, of Fairmount, Kevin (Kim) Lewis, of Greentown, Ann (Mike) Meek, of Starke, FL, and Marvin (Michele) Lewis, of West Lafayette; Steve Wyatt, who was like a son to Jim, of Raleigh, NC; twenty grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles Rex and George Lewis; sisters Anna Belle Greeno and Marian Bougher.
