James “Jim” Dale Raby
James Dale “Jim” Raby, devoted husband and father, died on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the age of 84.
He was born in Gooding, Idaho on May 2, 1928 to Walter and Beulah Raby. After graduation from Gooding High School he joined the Navy.
Jim enjoyed camping, back-packing, boating, and photography but his special love was cycling. He bicycled around Marin and Sonoma counties exploring the back roads and even completed a century ride. After 37 years of living in Santa Rafael he and his wife, Naomi, moved to Santa Rosa to enjoy retirement. They took many trips in their motor home and also with Elderhostel. His wife Naomi Le (Copsey) and he had celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary last June.
He is survived by his wife; by his four children and spouses: Diane Preece (Tom Preece), Edith Raby (Paul Sheinfeld), Chuck Raby (Debbie Raby), Jeff Raby (Ramon Silvestre); by four grandchildren: Dana Wallace, Beth Raby, Ben Raby, Jake Raby and by one great-grandchild, Oscar Raby. Jim enjoyed the love of his immediate family and of Naomi’s large Copsey family.
Jim is predeceased by his parents and by his sister, Vila Ruth Consolini.
