James Jerome (Jerry) Pitts, age 79, loving husband and devoted father, passed away August 10, 2016. Jerry was born in Wichita, Kansas and worked as a research chemist for the Olin Corporation in Connecticut prior to his retirement to Albuquerque, NM in 1998. He was known for his lively sense of humor, his passion for railroad history, and his love of harmonica music. He was always ready to share a play on words or an impromptu limerick with his friends, and enjoyed traveling around the United States and beyond with his wife of 51 years, Virginia. He is survived by Virginia and their children, Laurie Pitts of Bellingham, WA and Steven Pitts of San Francisco. Also touching Jerry’s life were his loving brothers- and sisters-in-law, Joe and Paula Cronin and Dick and Mary Roy, and their children; his Kansas cousins, Mary Kurimsky and James Wyckoff, his Norbertine friend and mentor, Father Gene Gries; and his many friends in New Mexico and Connecticut. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Veryl Pitts, and his mother, Mary Pitts.
