On Thursday, March 10, 2022, James J. Wirth, age 71, was called home to his eternal life to be with his Lord and Savior.

James was born September 27, 1950 in Wisconsin Rapids to John Sr. and Florence (Novak) Wirth and grew up in the Wisconsin Rapids area.  He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1968.  He continued his education at Vocational School (Now MSTC) and obtained a degree in instrumentation in 1970.  He married Sarah Lafler on December 4, 1971.

Jim was hired October 27, 1971 at Wyandotte Chemical as plant utility.  Over a span of 39 years, he continued working for BASF Wyandotte, Vulcan Chemicals and Erco ending his career as E/I Leadman and retiring on May 1, 2006.

Jim was an avid collector of steam engine trains and antique toys.  He was often seen at estate and rummage sales searching for treasures to add to his collection.  He volunteered for the meals at the Centralia Center for many years.  He was also a member of the Wood County Rifle and Pistol Club.

Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sarah; son Byron (Manda) Wirth; and daughter Michelle Young.  He is further survived by two granddaughters, Sarah “aka Junior” (Zach) Erwin and Emma Wirth; sister-in-law Bette Wirth; and many nieces and nephews.  He is reunited in heaven with his parents John and Florence Wirth; sisters Barbara Linzmeier and Cathy Wirth; and brother John Wirth.  He is further united with his “brother” Richard Jaroch.

Many thanks go out to Heartland Hospice and the Wisconsin Rapids Care Center for the wonderful care Jim received there over the past month.
