James J. Hatton, 79 of Holiday City Berkeley section of Berkeley Township, Toms River, New Jersey, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at home with his family by his side. Born in Whitestone, New York, he lived in Bergenfield, New Jersey, for 25 years before moving to Holiday City Berkeley 20 years ago.
Jim proudly served our country in the US Army during the Cuban Crisis. Jim was in the printing industry for many years. He finished his career as a Union Representative for Local 32-BJ NYC as an Elevator Starter for Rockefeller Center. Jim was a parishioner of St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Berkeley Twp. He also served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of the Holiday City Berkeley First Aid Squad, a lifetime member of the Bergenfield Elks #2848, and a 3rd degree Knight with Knights of Columbus St. Maximilian Council in Toms River, New Jersey.
Jim was an avid Yankee, Giant, Knicks, and Ranger Fan. He loved hiking, swimming with his grandchildren, snorkeling, and helping others. He will be remembered as a loving Husband, Father, Pop-Pop, Great Grandpa, Brother, Uncle and Friend. He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Dorothy (Meyer) Hatton, and his two sisters, Joan Fisher and Barbara Cunningham.
Surviving is his loving wife of 57 years Betty (Prijatel), his dear children; Jennifer Fleming (John) of Harriman, NY, Deborah Croney (Rich) of Lake Ariel, PA and Thomas (Jenny) of Lake. Ariel PA, two brothers; Timothy (Connie) Jupiter Fl and William (Gladys) of Toms River, NJ, sister Mary (Charlie) Keinonen of Wellington, FL, nine grandchildren; Samantha, Shannon, Heidi, Makayla, Ryan, Sean, Johnny, Tommy, Jimmy and three great-grandchildren Clayton, Caroline, Dahlia.
