James H. Carithers, 68, of Clarks Hill, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at IU Health Arnett Hospital due to COVID.
He was born February 12, 1953, in Lafayette, to the late Harold and Sara Mae Carithers.
James graduated from New Castle High School and received his BS in Agriculture from Purdue University.
On October 10, 1992, he married Rita Boyle in Ft. Wayne, and she survives.
James worked for Callahan Seed before becoming a truck driver for Frito Lay.
He was a member of White Horse Christian Center. Jim enjoyed antique cars, being outdoors and hiking in Tennessee, attending the Covered Bridge Festival, fellowship, talking and spending time with family and friends. Jim also loved his country and its history.
Surviving along with his wife Rita are five children, Nathan Carithers of Lafayette, Seth Carithers of Virginia Beach, VA, Hannah Carithers of Indianapolis, Simeon Carithers of Camp Pendelton, CA and Olivia Carithers of Clarks Hill, a sister, Jayne Diggs of MD and a brother, John (Paula) Carithers of Sheridan.
