James Gordon Vizard, 66, of 2038 N. Broad St., Galesburg, died at 3:27 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
Jim was born March 23, 1942 in Galesburg, the son of Paris Denny and Margaret Hennessy Vizard. He is survived by two brothers, Edward F. (Ginny) of Minneapolis, MN and Donald J. of Galesburg and two sisters, Rita (John) Azukas of Kissimmee, FL and Mary (Richard) Barthel of Peoria. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Liz Azukas (Bill Gaudelli) and son, Alex; Mike Azukas; John (Natalie) Vizard and daughter, Aleeta; Kathleen Vizard; Anne Barthel; and James (Dianna) Barthel.
Jim graduated from Corpus Christi High School in Galesburg in 1960 and received his degree from Parsons College in Fairfield, IA in 1964. Jim served in the US Air Force from 1964 to 1968 and was stationed at Ton Son Nhut Air Base during the Tet Offensive. He worked at the Federal Reserve Bank in Chicago from 1969 until his retirement in 2002.
Jim was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
