James F. Dooley, age 72 of Orlando, Fla., passed away on September 11, 2015 at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo.

He was born in Marion on December 31, 1942, to the late Fredrick Conner Dooley and the late Thelma (Johnson) Dooley. James was a 1961 graduate of Marion High School and went on to earn a B.A. in Elementary Education and a CNA Degree from Orlando Vocational Technical Institute. He was a dedicated teacher for forty-two years, teaching at Converse Elementary and Park Elementary, in Fairmount, before moving to Florida in 1969, where he taught fourth grade in Winter Park, Fla. at Lakemont Elementary School until retirement. It was not uncommon for former students to come back and thank James for his dedication. James was also a CNA at a nursing facility in Florida for twenty-seven years. He was a member of the Church of God in Orlando, Fla., where he loved to sing gospel music and play the piano and organ. He also enjoyed playing and singing music for various weddings and funerals. He was an avid horticulturalist and member of the Florida Retired Teachers Association. Most of all, James was a very devoted father, had a deep respect for the mother of his children and, was considerate of all people and their needs.

James is survived by his daughter, Laura L. (Joel) Sutton, of Wabash; sister, Myrna Ogden, of Swayzee; brother, Steve (Lisa) Dooley, of Converse; best friend, Richard Milewski, of Orlando, Fla.; grandchildren, Christopher (Darci) Issacs, of Marion, Kara Taylor, of Marion, and, Cody Sutton, of Wabash; great-grandchildren, Paxton and Alexa. He also remained close to his nieces and nephews and his extended family, Elwood and Joyce Wampner.

James was preceded in death by his son, John M. Dooley, who passed away on July 28, 2015; brother-in-law, Jerry Ogden.
