James Howard Ewing, 89 of North East, MD, passed away Friday, September 15, 2017 in the Elkton Transitional Care Center, Elkton, MD.

A lifelong resident of North East, he was born on April 18, 1928, the son of the late Daniel L. and Mammie (Dennison) Ewing.

Jimmy retired from C. Paul Nickle, Inc. after 32 years of service as an electrician. He also had worked as a carpenter for Paul Crouch and Lewis Alexander. After retirement, he served 23 years as a crossing guard in the town of North East.

He was the oldest living member of the North East Fire Company and a member of the Harford-Cecil Firemen’s Association Hall of Fame.

Survivors include his wife: Rapheal “Ray” Ewing; 4 children:  James W. Ewing, of Townsend, DE, Rose Marie Newton (Raymond) of Estero, FL, Joseph H. Ewing (Dianna) of North East, MD, and Annette R. Lander of Rising Sun, MD; 2 brothers: Carl Ewing of Perryville, MD and Joseph Robert Ewing of Kingsland, TX; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
