James Eugene “Gene” Presson, 84 of Suffolk, Va, passed away December 14, 2023 at home. He was born in Nansemond County to the late Ethel Applewhite and Herman Presson. He was also predeceased by his sister Barbara Ann Carter, brothers Gordon and Tommy Presson, and son-in-law Craig Holland.Gene graduated from Chuckatuck High School. He served in the U.S. Army and worked as a conductor for Norfolk and Southern Railway.Gene is survived by his children Michelle Holland, Cindy McNeill (Jimmy), Glen Presson (Susanna), Mark Presson (Jennifer), and Gordon Presson (Melisa), his brother-in-law John Henry Carter, grandchildren Joshua Holland (Rebecca), Cody Holland (Erin), Ethan Holland (Haley), Jamie McNeill (Cameron), Cassidy McNeill (Daniel), Brooklyn Presson, Taylor Gartman (Kevin), Ashtyn Presson, Chris Butler (Kasey), and Lori Presson, great-grandchildren Brylie Fischer, Emmitt Gartman, J.D. Presson, Charlotte Presson, Kinley Ramos, Landon Ramos, Crew Holland, Reagan Holland, Brayden McDade, Kasen McDade, and Linken McDade, long-term special friend Betty Sue Burris, the mother of his children Billie McClintock, and faithful dog Buddy.
