James E. Weaver, 80, of Freeport, died Monday, July 8, 2013, at Stephenson Nursing Center.

Born November 7, 1932 at his grandmother’s house in Polo he was the son of Albert and Pearl (Boomgarden) Weaver. He married Donna Knodle on December 24, 1954.Jim graduated from Freeport High School in 1950. In his early years he was employed as a pinsetter at the bowling alley. He worked as a machinist for Barber Coleman in Rockford and Loves Park for 29 years. He also worked for Star Manufacturing in Freeport, was a cement finisher, part time over the road trucker and bulk U.S Mail Driver.

Jim was a proud Korean Veteran and lifetime member of Freeport VFW Post 998.”Jimbo” as he liked to be called, enjoyed camping, fishing, and was a motorcyclist for most of his life. He volunteered in Scouting as a Webelos Den Leader and Troop Committee Chairman when his son was a Scout. He served as a Leader when his grandson was a Cub Scout. Jim took pride in his grandchildren and enjoyed an interest in their activities.

Surviving are his daughters, Patricia Turnham and Tanya Weaver both of Freeport; his son, Randy (Joanne) Weaver of Freeport; grandchildren, Gabriel Goldsmith, Megan Bryant, Catheryn Turnham, Seth Weaver, Alexzandria Schmoll, Zachary (Sarah) Weaver, Adam Weaver, Noah Weaver; several great grandchildren; and his number two son, Phil (Abagail) Scheider.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and special aunt, Nina Schoen.
