Heighton, James E., Sr. was born February 7, 1942, in Kalamazoo, the son of Elbert and Stella Micheau Heighton; and passed away December 8, 2011, in Kalamazoo.
Jim was a lifelong area resident and had served in the U.S. Army. For many years he was employed with the James River Corp, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Comstock VFW Post 6252, the American Legion Post, National Rifle Association, and several other organizations.
Surviving are his three sons, Steve Tracy Heighton of Galesburg, James Kelli Heighton, Jr. of Ft. Myers, FL, and Brent Camie Heighton of Comstock; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Elaine Dave Potgiesser; and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Bill and Joyce.
