James E. Sellers Sr., 91, died Sunday, June 26, 2011 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.He was born April 20, 1920, to the late Rama Sellers and Fairy Agnes Gardner-Hinton.Mr. Sellers spent most of his life in the Fairmount area, graduating from Fairmount High School in 1939.He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Corp.Mr. Sellers spent three years as a chef in the South Pacific serving in Hawaii, Australia, New Guinea, and the Philippines.He was a Past Commander of the Fairmount American Legion Post 313, a Past Commander of the V.F.W Lee Winslow Post 773, and a Past Master of Fairmount Lodge #635 F. A.M.For twenty-five years he also sold school and office supplies.

Mr. Sellers was a graduate of Indiana Barber College and of Indiana Business College.He was a barber and an accountant in the Fairmount and Marion areas.Before his retirement, James was the treasurer-manager of General Tire Credit Union.He participated in continuing education programs sponsored by Purdue University and was affiliated with the Indiana Tax Practitioners Association.

Mr. Sellers attended Back Creek Friends Meeting.He married Mattie Solomonson Wyatt on October 21, 1966; Mrs. Sellers survives her husband of forty-four years. Also surviving is his son James Sellers Jr., Fairmount and daughter, Renita (Gary) Hunziker, Keokuk, Iowa. Surviving also are his stepchildren, John (Anna) Wyatt, San Diego, Calif., Steve (Marlene) Wyatt, Apex, N.C., and Randy Wyatt, Apex, N.C. His sister, Janet Kay Sellers, Marion is also surviving as well; grandchildren, Andrea (Joe) Hendrickson, Misty (Matt)Kleinmeyer, both of Iowa City, Iowa; Chris Sellers, San Mateo, California, Craig Sellers, Fairmount, Casey Sellers, Wolcottville; step-grandchildren, David Wyatt, Raleigh, N.C.; Christina Wyatt, Carrboro, NC, and Ami Wyatt, San Diego, CA, great-grandchildren, Olivia Hendrickson, Jamison Sellers, Tyler, Kaleb, and Gracie; Abigail Sellers, several nieces and nephews.
