James E. Dutton, age 88, longtime resident of Milford, and beloved husband of the late Marian I. Dutton, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 26, 1934 in Lake Township, Wood County, OH, he was the son of the late John Harry and Irene Keeton Dutton.

Prior to his retirement, Jim was a truck driver with Spector Freight Company and Bridgeport Steel, and he was also employed at Cilco Terminal in Bridgeport.

Over the years, Jim was known for his love of boating and fishing, including oystering and lobstering and was a lifetime member of East End Yacht Club in Bridgeport. Jim was talented and meticulous in his many hobbies which included building custom fishing rods and woodworking and restoration of fine furniture. He was also an avid wood carver and was actively involved with both Danbury and Mystic, CT woodcarving clubs.

Jim was an avid fan of the UConn Huskies, Boston Red Sox, and a constant at his grandchildren’s activities and events. He was a caring husband, father, grandfather and brother whose devotion and love will be dearly missed.  

Jim is survived by his loving children, Cheryl (Robert) Hardy of Monroe, Tammie (Dale) Klinger of Bethlehem, PA, Jim (Dee) Dutton of Milford and Cindy (Carl) Russo of Stratford; his cherished grandchildren Tyler Hardy, Kyle and Kevin (Samantha) Klinger, Bobby and Becky Dutton and Carl (Mackenzie) and Brandon Russo; his sister Anna Lou Daly of Shelton and several loving nieces and cousins.

In addition to his wife Marian of 59 years, Jim was predeceased by his brother, Donald Dutton of Curtice, OH.
