James Douglas “Doug†Divers, 73, formerly of the Figsboro Community in Henry County, died Friday, January 7, 2011 in the Inova Alexandria Hospital, Alexandria, VA. Born April 5, 1937 in Franklin County, Doug was a son of the late Harry Divers and Louise Bennett Divers and was the husband of the late Alice Fulcher Divers. He was preceded in death by a sister, Wysor Divers Flora and by a daughter, Sabrina Dawn Divers. Doug was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and had retired from VDOT after more than 35 years of service, retiring as a bridge inspector. He was a graduate of Franklin County High School and had served in the United States Army. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Divers Rafi and husband, Asim Rafi of Arlington, VA; a son and daughter-in-law, Todd Divers and wife Annie Dirickson Divers of Charlottesville, VA; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe Divers and wife Gloria Bowman Divers of Rocky Mount, VA and a brother-in-law, David Flora of Boones Mill, VA.; four grandchildren, Adam Rafi, Sarah Rafi, Mason Divers and Nolan Divers.
