James David George died after an extended illness on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 82 years of age.  He was born in Blakely, GA on May 31, 1940, to Lloyd Lamar and Jeanette Tarver George. Jim later attended Blakely Union High School.  After graduation, he studied at The University of Georgia where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Real Estate from the College of Business Administration (Terry College of Business). Jim was an active member of the fraternity Sigma Nu and remained close to many of his brothers throughout the years.

After graduation, Jim married Carole Jean Clifton on December 26, 1961. Carole preceded him in death after being married for 43 years.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Jim loved the outdoors. He shared his love of water sports with all of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and countless others. Jim volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and at Wears Valley Ranch in Sevierville, TN, where he built and designed housing units. Jim served as a mentor and role model to David (Brionna), Divad (Victoria and Nyla), and Ta-Tianna Dewitt.

Jim is survived by his wife of 12 years, Glyndell Thompson Porter George. Jim and Glyndell were childhood and lifelong friends. They loved opening their home to family and friends, traveling the U.S., abroad, and, of course, to Athens, GA to cheer on their beloved Bulldogs.
