James David "Dave" Hosier

James David Dave Hosier, 68, Jonesboro, went home to be with Jesus Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014 at Marion General Hospital, Marion, following a brief illness.

Dave was born Dec. 3, 1945 in Kokomo and was the son of the late James David Hosier and Theda Alice (Bagley) Hosier-Cole. He married his wife of 48 years, Phyllis Soultz, on Oct. 30, 1965 at Jonesboro Main Street Wesleyan Church, Jonesboro. She survives.

Dave retired in 2006 after working 41 years for Chrysler Corporation, Kokomo. He worked as a crib attendant for the last 10 years at Chrysler. After retirement he worked as a greeter at the Meijer Store in Marion and most recently as a parts deliveryman for NAPA Auto Parts. He also volunteered in the Indiana Wesleyan mail-room.

He graduated in 1964 from Southwood High School. As a member of Main Street Wesleyan Church, Jonesboro, he served as a Sunday school teacher for many years, and formerly served as Sunday school superintendent and on the Local Board of Administration at the church. He enjoyed watching sports, especially anything his grandchildren participated in. He also enjoyed Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball and softball, Taylor University tennis, the Mississinewa Indians, the Indianapolis Colts and Notre Dame.

In addition to his wife, Phyllis, Dave is survived by two daughters, Wendy (Todd) Wagoner of Anderson and Erin (Justin) Pruitt of Muncie; one son, Jon (Stacy) Hosier of Jonesboro; two sisters, Betty Nose and Patty (Randy) Miller, both of Wabash; and four grandchildren, Sydney and Emma Wagoner of Anderson and Justin and Katy Hosier of Jonesboro. Dave was preceded in death by his parents.
