Mr. James Covington, 93, a resident fo 1113 Springview Dr., died Saturday, April 16, 2005 at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation for the Triad.
Mr. Covington was born November 24, 1911 in Bennettsville, S.C., a son of Kearne and Sadie Covington. A resident of High Point since 1942, he was formerly employed by the City of High Point in the sanitation department, and a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a former member of the trustee board, and general caretaker of the lawn. His wife, Edna; stepson, James Earl; parents and all 13 siblings, all preceded him in death.
Surviving relatives include a stepdaughter, Sallie Mae Covington of New York; god-daughter, Sharon Gillard, who was also his carefiver; nieces, Mrs. Joyce Poole, Mrs. Olivia Spears & husband, Andrew, Ms. Anita Rogers, and Ms. Elaine Poole, all of Bennettsville, S.C.; other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
