James L. “Jim” Coppock, 76, of Iron Mountain, passed away unexpectedly Monday May 15, 2017 at the Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, WI following complications of a heart attack.

 

James was born October 2, 1940 in Escanaba, MI the son of Eugene and Lula (McMillie) Coppock.  He was raised in Gladstone where he was a 1960 graduate of Gladstone High School.  While at Gladstone High School he lettered in football where he played offense and defense.  Following graduation, Jim continued his education Michigan Tech University.  He served his country in the U.S Army for 3 years, stationed in Japan for 2 of those years. Jim worked for I.B.M. Corporation for 30 years and following his retirement he went back to work for Pentax Corporation for 5 years.

 

Jim was united in marriage to the former Pamela Webber on June 18, 1966 in Trenary.  They resided in Milwaukee, WI and Litchfield, MN before retiring to Iron Mountain. Jim and Pam enjoyed their retirement years wintering in Surprise, AZ.  Jim’s hobbies included woodcarving, where he specialized in carving Santa’s and ducks.  He also enjoyed playing Cribbage and card games.

 

In addition to his wife of 50 years, Pamela, survivors include:

 

Sons:  Brian (Denise) Coppock of Green Bay, WI and Gregory (Mary) Coppock of Minneapolis, MN.

 

Grandchildren: Tanner and Samantha Coppock

 

Brothers: Richard (Kathleen) Coppock of Florence, WI, Gerald (Donna) Coppock of Escanaba, MI and Bruce Coppock of Woodstock, IL

 

Sister: Cheryl (James) Halmeoja of Rapid River, MI

 

Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

 

In addition to his parents, his brothers, David and Tom Coppock preceded Jim in death.
