James (Jim) C. Keeley Sr. 72, of Sanford, MI, passed away peacefully after battling a brief illness, on August 3rd, 2016. He was born on May 15, 1944 to Rufus and Mary Pauline (DeGeer) Keeley in Midland, Michigan.

He graduated from Midland High School in 1963 and served four years in the United States Air Force, where he spent time as an instructor on Chanute Air Force base in Rantoul, IL, and was honorably discharged in 1968. After returning to Midland, MI, in 1983 where his children were raised, he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Technical Education from Ferris State University in 1987. He worked in the plant for the Dow Chemical Company until his retirement in 1999.

Jim was quite the handyman and enjoyed his woodworking and the outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing, tinkering around the house and took great pride in having the best looking lawn on the block. Jim also volunteered his time as an Assistant Scoutmaster with his sons’ Boy Scout troop.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Sue (Markham) Keeley, Carol Puckett of Champaign, IL, his ex-wife and mother of their two sons Jason (Dawn) Keeley of Urbana, IL, and Jamie (Kathy) Keeley of Ann Arbor, MI, brothers Nehil (Kay) Keeley of Sanford, MI, and Bob (Nada) Keeley of Midland, MI, and many nieces and nephews. He also was a grandfather to, Carter, Carly and Hayden. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Mary Keeley.
