James Charles, Kantor, 55, of Freeport, died Friday, May 21, 2004, in Freeport. Born August 30, 1948, in Evergreen Park he was the son of James C. and Charlotte (Mueller) Kantor.
He married Merry Blake on June 14, 1970, in Oak Park. He received his Bachelors’s and Masters’s degrees from the University of Illinois and served in the United States Army from 1972 until 1992. Retiring as a Major. He worked for the Stephenson County Court House from 1995 to 2003. His memberships included St. Joseph Catholic Church and Stephenson Society of Model Trainmen. He also held a private pilot’s license as well as an instructor license.
Surviving are his wife; of Freeport; one son, James Cary (Maria) Kantor of St. Louis, Missouri; his parents of Chicago; two brothers; three sisters; three brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews.
His grandparents preceded him in death.
