James T. “Butch” Grotti, Jr., 73, of Ottawa, died on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at his home.
James was born on November 17, 1943 in Spring Valley, to James P. and Lillian (Campbell) Grotti, Sr. He was a graduate of Hall High School, where he was still a devoted fan of their football and basketball teams.
James was a veteran of the US Army. He married Wanda DeMoss Munson on June 1, 1979 at the First United Methodist Church in Ottawa.
James worked for Westclox and then US Silica. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 33, and also enjoyed fishing, especially in Lake Mills, WI.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda, 3 children, Dale (Lorene) Munson, of Oglesby, Debbie (Tony) Dixon, of Ottawa, and Dan (Lori) Munson, of Oglesby, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Karon (Ron) Mini, of Peru, LuAnn Wood, of Seatonville, 2 brothers, William Grotti, of Seatonville, and Mark (Dodie) Grotti, of Peru, and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, and several aunts and uncles.Pallbearers will be, Bill Jones, David Munson, Nathaniel Munson, Erik Frandin, William Grotti, and Mark Grotti. Honorary Pallbearers will be his remaining grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
