James E. Burt was born in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina on April 3,1931. He was the second child of James Judd and Knoxie Burt.
He attended grade school in Fuquay-Varina and relocated to Tampa in his early adulthood. While a resident of Tampa for 70 years, James worked for the City of Tampa as a pipe laborer for 27 years.
James E. Burt is remembered as a loving son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He was loyal, had a caring heart and was loved by many.
James was preceded in death by: his parents, James Judd and Knoxie Burt; brother, Melvin Judd; daughter, Leborria Burt; sons, Bobby Burt, Randy Burt and Darryl Burt and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his sisters, Elizabeth Murray (James Murray), Martha Moore (Charles Moore), and Rachel Turk (James Turk); brother, Joseph Alston, Jr. (Phyllis Alston); daughter, Sonya Philon (Anthony Philon); sons, James Burt, Rondall Burt (Lydia Burt), Nathan Burt, Lyndon Hicks, Earl Wilson, and Cyprian Bynoe; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of very special relatives and dear friends in North Carolina and Tampa.
