James R. “J.R.” Burkes, 62, of Palatka, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at Putnam Community Medical Center from complications of the Covid 19 Virus. A native and lifelong resident of Palatka, “J.R.” worked many years in the construction industry. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed mud bogging. “J.R.” also loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Burkes and Billie Burkes as well as a brother, John Burkes.
“J.R.” is survived by his wife of 45 years, Becky Burkes of Palatka, his children, Jay Burkes (Dixie), Brandi Oary (Matt), Belinda Vandevander (David) and Amber Burkes, 11 grandchildren, Tiffany, Emily, Morgan, Marissa, Mason, Mayci, Hayley, Logan, Brailynn, Dustin and Ashley, 4 great-grandchildren, Maverick, Kinady, Waylon and Braxten, 4 siblings, Judy Cannon, Jerry Burkes (April), Gene Burkes (Ann) and Deborah Pacetti (Buck).
