James (Jim) Ivan Broshar passed away peacefully on February 9, 2009 in Scottsdale, Arizona at the age of 75. He was born in Waterloo, Iowa on July 3, 1933 to Ivan Ryman Broshar and Cecil McClellan Broshar. Jim lived In Waterloo during his youth and graduated from West Waterloo High School in June 1952. He received a degree in Business Administration from the University of Iowa in June 1956 where he spent his college years and served as president of his fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He married Joan Schumann on June 23, 1956.
He served in the United States Air Force with a tour of duty in Korea after which, he set out on a 40-year career in the telecommunications industry, including senior management positions with Northwestern Bell, and AT&T which took him and his family from coast to coast. Upon retiring from AT&T in 1987, Jim and his wife moved to Scottsdale, Arizona where he served as the Executive Vice President for the Rocky Mountain Telecommunications Association.
