James Anthony “Jimmy Mac” McNamara, Jr., age 60, of Rensselaer, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013, at the Veteran’s Medical Center, Indianapolis, Ind.

He moved to Rensselaer 15 years ago after living in DeMotte. Jimmy Mac was born in Chicago, Ill. on April 5, 1952, the son of James A. McNamara Sr., and Margie Lee (Lindsey) McNamara. Jimmy Mac was raised in Chicago, graduating with the Class of 1969 from Tilden High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, serving in Vietnam. He was a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church, Rensselaer, the Rensselaer VFW Post #1279, and the Rensselaer American Legion Post #29. He enjoyed television programs, especially American Idol, and NCIS, and looked forward to watching The Voice. Jimmy Mac was a detailer at Ed White Auto Sales. He was a former truck driver, who had worked on the railroad and in construction.

Surviving is the mother of his children, Debra; two sons, Ron Hanson and William Joseph McNamara, both of Kentucky; three grandchildren, Daphne, Amelia, and Lorelei; and two sisters, Mary (husband, Warren) Barker of DeMotte and Patricia (husband, Ralph); sister-in-law, Tissy McQueen, Rensselaer, and many nieces and nephews. He resided with his nephew, Kevin “Bones.”

Jimmy Mac was preceded in death by his parents, a son, James A. Hanson McNamara, one brother, Michael Thomas “Butch” McNamara in 1995, and a sister, Sandra Marie Hipp in 2012.
