James Allen Flynn, born in Jacksonville, Illinois on August 5, 1936, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Dallas, Texas on Saturday, November 22, 2008. He was the son of James and Wilmana Flynn and brother of Dick Flynn, all deceased.
Jim is survived by his wife, Sandra Clemmons Flynn, his two children Shelley Flynn Singleton and Michael Flynn and his two grandchildren, Meredith and Jimmie Singleton of Jacksonville. Jim graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1954, Illinois College in 1958, and received his Masters Degree from Webster University in St. Louis.
He worked for the State of Illinois for many years at both the Transportation Department in Springfield and opened the new Illinois Bureau of Identification Laboratory in Fairview Heights. For the past 20 years, he worked for LabCorp of America in Dallas. Jim enjoyed being a member of the Elks Club. Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather who always saw the good in everything and in everyone. Jim had an adventurous spirit which was evidenced in his love for travel. One of his greatest joys was traveling to Alaska with his brother and all of his family. Jim’s compassion extended to the pet world as well with his love and affection for his late black Labrador, Bently.
