James Andrew Moore, 75, of Newtown, Connecticut died March 28.
Jim was born on August 2, 1936 in Brooklyn, New York to the late John and Helen Moore. He graduated from Butler High School, Butler, NJ in 1954; received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Rutgers University in 1958; and served in the Army as a First Lieutenant where, while stationed in California, he met and married Leora Ann Carpenter, his wife of 49 years.
Jim’s dedicated career spanned 31 years at Union Carbide Corporation where at time of his retirement in 1992 he served as the Director of Corporate Communications.
Jim spent his childhood years around the Cupsaw Lake community in Ringwood, New Jersey, and later returned to raise his family there before relocating to Newtown in 1979. In Ringwood, he was active in the Cupsaw Lake Athletic Association and served as President of the Jaycees. In Newtown, Jim dedicated his time and leadership to youth soccer and helped originate the Newtown Memorial Day Kickoff Soccer Tournament.
