Jalette Nunn Walker, 95, of Jacksonville and formerly of Peoria and Meredosia, died Friday, February 1, 2019. She was born December 1, 1923, along with her twin sister Janette, the daughter of the late Charles and Faye Schwartz Nunn of Meredosia.

She married Charles “Red” Walker on January 5, 1951, and he preceded her in death on April 19, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Janette Cole; her older sister Margaret Jenkins; and her daughter Chardy Lieb on August 22, 2016.

She is survived by her grandson Dusty Lieb and his partner Layna Miller, great grandson Thomas Walker Lieb, and son-in-law Jerry Lieb, all of Jacksonville; stepson Raymond Hoffman of Sherman; and niece Cathy Rhoades of Meredosia.

Jalette graduated from Meredosia High School and joined the U.S. Army Medical Corps, achieving the rank of Sergeant, and was assigned to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Upon her discharge, she returned to Meredosia where she worked as a Dental Assistant to Dr. Griebler for four years until her marriage. Jalette loved spending time with her daughter Chardy, thought the world of her grandson, loved her dog Foxy, and enjoyed decorating.
